Cerin Amroth |
Sindarin, ‘Pale-point’ or ‘Snowdrop’
Niphredil was a small white flower which grew in Middle-earth. It had long, slender stalks, from which its white petals blossomed. It was said to have come into existence in the forest of Neldoreth in Doriath, at the moment of the birth of Lúthien Tinúviel. It later appeared with the flower elanor on Cerin Amroth in Lórien, where it grew in white and pale green varieties.
Etymology
Niphredil comes from the Sindarin niphred ("pallor") and the ending -il to mean "little pallor"
