365 Days of Middle-earth ~ Day 108: Roäc

Roäc and Thorin; John Howe
Roäc (b. TA 2788), son of Carc, was the Chief of the Ravens of Erebor. Friendly with the Dwarves, he aided Thorin Oakenshield when members of his expedition were attacked in Erebor (TA 2941). He also acted as a messenger between Dáin II Ironfoot and Thorin, informing the latter of the death of the dragon Smaug, and counseling the Dwarves in their preparations for the events that would later ensue. He was about 153 years old when he met Thorin and Bilbo.

In the 1968 radio series of The Hobbit, Roäc was voiced by John Wyse, and by Pat Franklyn in the 1979 radio series.
