But you're saying that the only way to get the riding skill is to use Turbine Points to buy it in the LOTRO Store? That seems odd, but I suppose given all the other benefits, one really can't complain. I also wonder if the log-ins really are faster... It seems they've gotten unbearably long lately.Brittahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11727418710904313638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6654162646301256777.post-50603088529591590752012-04-28T10:17:49.961-04:002012-04-28T10:17:49.961-04:00I bought the download. Before downloading I disabled screensaver and automatic virus scan.
One must create a Gamestop account then another account for the download manager. It is an 11.35 gig download (although Gamestop said it would be 13 gig). The game must then be installed on one's computer. At last, when one logs onto LOTRO, one faces a massive update, so be prepared for a lengthy process.
One thing not made clear is that one must go to 'account' and put in the product code supplied by Gamestop (don't worry, they helpfully supplied it in a confirmation e-mail)before the game recognizes the altered status of one's account. One is then given an option to continus (I.E. keep your existing characters) or start over.
AS advertised, I got 2,000 turbine points, a mount, Trollshaws, Eregion, Moria, and Lothlorien. I also got an extra character slot, and (supposedly) faster log-ins.
What this was not (although hinted at in the forums) was an expansion pack, so niether VIP for a month (with it's accompanying 500 turbine points), riding skill (nor opportunity to quest for the skill), swift travel, nor skirmish increases were included.
As I posted earlier I am very frugal so all in all consider this a good purchase.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6654162646301256777.post-35966090232315368962012-04-25T21:57:25.835-04:002012-04-25T21:57:25.835-04:00The digital download is the same as the boxed copy...The digital download is the same as the boxed copy, although the only contents stated are the mount, 2000 Turbine points, and the quest packs (leaving me to believe the starter guide and keyboard map may have been left out).

As for the mount, it is available account-wide, which means any characters on the server can use it, and presumably that goes for each server you play on under that account.

In all, it's a pretty good deal, especially if you're free to play. I went back to that for awhile, but eventually ran out of quests to do, and was unwilling to spend Turbine Points on quest packs. $14.95 is a great price to get yourself started; if you find you're not that interested, you don't have to go on and become a VIP subscriber. But at the very least, it'll open up some new zones for you to play while you decide :)Brittahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11727418710904313638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6654162646301256777.post-3574396208446258232012-04-25T04:27:41.506-04:002012-04-25T04:27:41.506-04:00I'm a frugal free to play LOTRO member. Am I correct in assuming this purchases all the content of the game box, excepting the physical items?
2. Is the mount given only once to a particular player character, or is it available for all player characters, across all servers?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
