Kudos to Mr. Lee for being able to find the time to do it!Brittahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11727418710904313638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6654162646301256777.post-81285395481634838802012-01-07T01:04:47.271-05:002012-01-07T01:04:47.271-05:00I haven't read it in quite some years myself. ...I haven't read it in quite some years myself. I always felt a bit ashamed of the rather low number of times I had read these books, since I read in some LotR Weapons and Warfare book, or a title like that, in the forward by Christopher Lee that he would read LotR every 1-2 years. Now that is dedication.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6654162646301256777.post-50549550652689578192012-01-06T23:01:20.623-05:002012-01-06T23:01:20.623-05:00I'd like to read it again before the first fil...I'd like to read it again before the first film comes out. I think my last read was somewhere between 6 months to a year ago, so I'm probably overdue. A true classic; you can read it over and over and over and it never gets old! :)Brittahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11727418710904313638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6654162646301256777.post-80768919367744845642012-01-06T22:53:11.681-05:002012-01-06T22:53:11.681-05:00I just started re-reading the Hobbit today. When he changed things in the Lord of the Rings, many people who hadn't read the books prior to the movies preferred the latter. And that's very heartbreaking. But I think PJ realises this and will take that into consideration. And you're welcome for the #FF!Brittahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11727418710904313638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6654162646301256777.post-48764433208234592422012-01-06T21:43:10.983-05:002012-01-06T21:43:10.983-05:00I trust Jackson too. I have to admit I am intrigued how he will handle this. Thanks for the #FF on Twitter by the way. :)Ron Leightonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16601390062709042769noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6654162646301256777.post-37638456670399654982012-01-06T21:24:43.447-05:002012-01-06T21:24:43.447-05:00Yes, that does sound like a feasible scenario. It was suggested on my Facebook page that perhaps his non-physical form would make an appearance, though I still wonder in that case how they would imply that the Necromancer is Sauron (it might leave too many "plot holes" for people who have only seen the LOTR films and never read any of the books). I trust Peter Jackson, but if I see Sauron in physical form taking part in the Battle of Five Armies, I may freak out. I'm already a little nervous as it is... :PBrittahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11727418710904313638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6654162646301256777.post-23693231075762615942012-01-05T22:38:20.605-05:002012-01-05T22:38:20.605-05:00Just from a logical point of view, it is easy beli...Just from a logical point of view, it is easy believe the Necromancer may have caught wind of a battle a-brewing in the north and snuck his bad self up there to get a look-see, then slinked off when things went bad for the orcses. If a miniature version of LOTR Sauron rides through the middle of the battle on the back of a pony, I might have say, Peter! I can sort of see why they might want to use this as a means of connecting The Hobbit to The Lord of the Rings, but there has to be a better way to imply that the Necromancer and Sauron are one in the same (for those who have not read the books). Hopefully Cumberbatch just got the information a little wrong...But only time will tell...

@Sophie - I'm so glad you are enjoying the blog so far, and it's my pleasure to have you as a follower! Would he show up as the lidless eye? Or in his old Dagorlad battle regalia? Neither prospect is particularly attractive to me - it wouldn't make sense for Sauron to participate in the battle.

Then again, could it be possible the actor is confusing things in his head? He did say "or something" after all.

I hope so. I mean I trust PJ completely, but putting Sauron in the BOFA would be like...I don't know, putting the Witch-King at Helm's Deep.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
